David Johnston
Associate
David Johnston has nearly twenty years of experience in master planning, architectural design and documentation and contract administration through to project completion. With a passion for sustainable and socially responsible design, David has delivered a diverse range of architectural and urban-design projects including the recent Glenorchy and Burnie ambulance stations on behalf of the Department of Health and Bellette Place Supported Accommodation on behalf of Homes Tasmania as well as community hostel and social housing, multi-residential dwellings, hotels, education, commercial fit out and single residential dwellings.

His project experience spans a wide variety of scales, budgets, climatic conditions and locations, from the Macq01 hotel on Hobart’s waterfront to social housing, education and health projects in the remote Kimberly, Pilbara and South West regions in Western Australia.

David has a keen interest in architectural perception and is constantly investigating opportunities for the language and detailing of a project to resonate on a personal level with people who inhabit, view and engage with the architecture. With a fondness for concise design and detailing, along with a profound understanding of how projects are experienced in the greater realm, David has an ability to deliver sensitive architecture that is appreciated by both its inhabitants and the broader communities alike.
